If you haven’t heard the story yet…it’s a story that scares me for the present/future of young women everywhere and that should be shared from all parts of the internet and news outlets. It’s sadly predictable. It’s what movies are made of. But in those movies, it’s clear who’s in the wrong and how justice should be served.
But then we come back to planet Earth and away from Hollywood and somehow most people struggle with what a victim is. Drunk girls can be victims too.
The scoop: 16yo gets drunk around star football players. They decide to use/urinate/rape her in front of others (it was funny to them). They take videos/pictures of the assault. Other people tweet it, FB it, etc. No one helps or calls cops. Case gets tossed under SHE’S NOT A VICTIM VILLE, SHE WAS SEXUALLY ACTIVE. SHE WANTED THIS.(See New York Times article)
That was until a blogger wouldn’t drop it, since there were pictures/videos/screenshots or as we would otherwise know it in non-bizzaro world SLAM DUNK CASE against the perpetrators. But these are star football players in a football town. So instead blogger gets defamation suits against her.
But Anonymous was on the case and so they leaked a video that has not only, apparently, put the case back on display but now on the national level. And so start the Occupy rallies at Steubenville.
From NYT article:
“Afterward, they headed to the home of one football player who has now become a witness for the prosecution. That player told the police that he was in the back seat of his Volkswagen Jetta with Mays and the girl when Mays proceeded to flash the girl’s breasts and penetrate her with his fingers, while the player videotaped it on his phone. The player, who shared the video with at least one person, testified that he videotaped Mays and the girl “because he was being stupid, not making the right choices.” He said he later deleted the recording.
The girl “was just sitting there, not really doing anything,” the player testified. “She was kind of talking, but I couldn’t make out the words that she was saying.”
At that third party, the girl could not walk on her own and vomited several times before toppling onto her side, several witnesses testified. Mays then tried to coerce the girl into giving him oral sex, but the girl was unresponsive, according to the player who videotaped Mays and the girl.
The player said he did not try to stop it because “at the time, no one really saw it as being forceful.”
At one point, the girl was on the ground, naked, unmoving and silent, according to two witnesses who testified. Mays, they said, had exposed himself while he was right next to her.
Richmond was behind her, with his hands between her legs, penetrating her with his fingers, a witness said.
“I tried to tell Trent to stop it,” another athlete, who was Mays’s best friend, testified. “You know, I told him, ‘Just wait — wait till she wakes up if you’re going to do any of this stuff. Don’t do anything you’re going to regret.’ ”
He said Mays answered: “It’s all right. Don’t worry.”
That boy took a photograph of what Mays and Richmond were doing to the girl. He explained in court how he wanted her to know what had happened to her, but he deleted it from his phone, he testified, after showing it to several people.”
From the NY Times article
At a hearing in early October, prosecutors told the judge in the case that the defendants treated the girl “like a toy” and “the bottom line is we don’t have to prove that she said ‘no,’ we just have to prove that when they’re doing things to her, she’s not moving. She’s not responsive, and the evidence is consistent and clear.”
At a hearing last month, the girl’s mother said her daughter remained distraught and did not want to attend school. The girl’s friends have ostracized her, and parents have kept their children away from her, the mother said.
The girl does not sleep much, said the mother, who testified that she often hears her daughter crying at night.
The mother said the obsession with high school football in Steubenville is partly to blame. It shocked her that Saccoccia testified as a character witness for the defendants last month, she said.
Someone fucking take their heads.
This is absolutely disgusting.
Only found out about this yesterday. So fucking angry. Wish I could contact her to offer some form of support.
This is why we need feminism, to anyone who thinks it’s a joke.

Born in Washington, DC, on November 17, 1964, Susan E. Rice started her government career in 1993 with the National Security Council in Washington, DC, as the director of international organizations and peacekeeping. Her mentor, Madeline Albright, recommended Rice for the post of assistant secretary for African affairs in 1997 under President Clinton. She is currently the UN ambassador for the US.
U.N. Ambassador, foreign policy advisor. Born Susan Elizbeth Rice in Washington, D.C., on November 17, 1964, to parents Lois Dickson Fitt and Emmett J. Rice. Rice’s family is well renowned among the Washington elite; father, Emmett, is a Cornell University economics professor and former governor of the Federal Reserve System, while mother Lois is an education policy researcher and guest scholar at the Brookings Institution.
Growing up, Rice’s family often spoke of politics and foreign policy at the dinner table. Her mother’s job also brought notable figures through the house, including Madeline Albright, with whom Rice’s mother served with on a local school board. Albright would later become a pivotal figure in Rice’s personal and professional life.
Rice attended National Cathedral School, a prep academy in Washington, D.C. She excelled in academics, becoming her class valedictorian, and showed her aptitude in the politic realm as president of the student council. She also loved athletics, competing in three different sports, and became a star point guard on the basketball team.
After graduation, Rice attended Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. In college, she pushed herself to excel. She not only earned Departmental Honors and University Distinction, but also became a Harry S. Truman scholar, was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and earned a Rhodes scholarship. She turned the heads of top administrators when she created a fund that withheld alumni donations until the university either stopped their investments in companies doing business in South Africa, or the country ended apartheid.
“[Of all] the things they [Republicans] have disliked about things that have gone on in the administration, they have never called a male unqualified, not bright…” Fudge (D-Ohio) said at a news conference called by a dozen women members of the House of Representatives. “There is a clear sexism and racism that goes with these comments being made by…Senator [John] McCain and others.” ….
McCain described Rice as “not very bright.” Rice graduated from Stanford University with honors, was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship and earned a master’s degree and Ph.D. at Oxford University.
McCain, who selected Sarah Palin as his running mate in 2008, finished 894th of 899th in his graduating class at the U.S. Naval Academy. According to the book, {The Nightingale’s Song} by Robert Timberg, he was a “below par” Navy pilot who lost five military aircrafts before being captured as a prisoner of war.
According to eurocentric standards of intelligence … who’s not so bright?

In my neighborhood I noticed a lot of people with Mitt Romney sign in their front yards. I live in Virginia Beach Virginia a pretty conservative area, I know I should not judge someone based on their political affiliation, however I think that most of them are racist, let me explain my position, most of them earned under 250,000 a year and would receive a tax cut from president Barack Obama’s tax plan, the lady that lives across the street from me is raising her daughters son and receives public assistance, you know public assistance (the thing they call it when white people get welfare), she was able to modify her mortgage loan because of president Obama, she has a daughter that lives with her and her daughter has a son and receives you know public assistance, her husband only likes Ford pickup trucks and you know what president Obama did for the auto industry.
So I wonder is it just uninformed voters, who pay too much attention to Fox news or is it just what I think.

Romney’s “Mormon” Draft Deferment Not Legal
~~~
Draft Dodger Demonstrated for Vietnam Draft then Ran to France
————–
by Gordon Duff, Senior Editor
———-
Wikipedia gives Romney’s history, showing him to have dropped out of college at 19 and, instead of going to Vietnam as most Americans, he left for France but not covered by any deferment other than one claimed as part of a “private agreement” to name all Mormon children “ministers” according to Mitt’s biographers.
The US Constitution says otherwise, from page one onward. There is no language in the Federal Registersupporting this claim, no court decisions and, as there were no African Americans allowed in the Mormon Church at the time, such a decision would have also been a violation of the Civil Rights Act of 1965 and the Equal Protection provisions of the Constitution.
It wasn’t until 1978 that the challenges to the Mormon Church as legitimate due to their racists policies was settled by the IRS allowing them the legal status of a religious organization. Prior to that, they had the same tax standing as the KKK.
No ACLU lawsuit, no complaints against the then “whites only” Mormon Church and a bizarre number of contradictory stories to make Romney seem like something other than a felon, not very convincing stories at that. […]
BREAKING: Republicans can be petty, soulless pricks.
In the wake of Rep. Paul Ryan’s embarrassing soup kitchen photo-op last week, the organization that runs the facility tells The Huffington Post that donors have begun pulling their money out of the Youngstown, Ohio charity.
Ryan may have suffered a few late-night jokes, but the fallout for the soup kitchen appears to be far more bruising. Brian J. Antal, president of the Mahoning County St. Vincent De Paul Society, confirmed that donors have begun an exodus in protest over Ryan’s embarrassment. The monetary losses have been big. “It appears to be a substantial amount,” Antal said. “You can rest assured there has been a substantial backlash.”
Antal says he can’t give an actual dollar amount. “I can’t say how much [in] donations we lost,” he said. “Donations are a private matter with our organization.”
Antal’s charity represents the kind of organization that conservative Republicans might champion. But that was before the Ryan incident went viral a few days ago. According to The Washington Post, Antal said that the moment should never have happened. He told the newspaper that the photo-op was not authorized and that the campaign had “ramrodded their way” inside.
Ryan supporters have now targeted Antal and his soup kitchen, Antal said, including making hundreds of angry phone calls. Some members of Antal’s volunteer staff have had to endure the barrage as well, he said. “The sad part is a lot of [the callers] want to hide behind anonymity,” he said, adding that if someone leaves their name and number he has tried to return their call. In addition to phone calls, people have posted a few choice words on the charity’s Facebook wall, including statements like “I hope you lose your tax [sic] emempt status,” Anyone who is thinking about donations to you should think twice” and “Shame on you Brian Antal!”
So Paul Ryan blows a poorly thought out photo op and it’s someone else’s fault. Why? Because Republicans are perpetually whining fucking victims and it’s always someone else’s fault. It’s like the guy who gets out of prison and starts killing off the people who testified at his trial — like his crime is their fault.
So Paul Ryan makes an ass of himself andf the place where he chose to humiliate himself must pay the price. Let’s hope Mitt Romney doesn’t rip his pants at a childrens hospital or the wingnuts will burn it to the ground.
Of course, Romney-Ryan could call on supporters to stop punishing a charity that did absolutely nothing wrong. But that would mean calling attention to an incident they’d rather be forgotten. It would also require class. So I wouldn’t hold my breath.
I do not like these people. I do not like them at all.
